Songjiho Natransperience Platform | 자연 속에서 감각의 환기

송지호는 숲과 바다, 그리고 호수가 동시에 펼쳐지는 드문 장소이다. 방문자센터는 단순한 안내 시설이 아니라, 자연 속으로 들어가기 전 머무는 길목이자 사람과 풍경을 이어주는 전환적 플랫폼으로 구상되었다. 건물은 스스로를 드러내기보다는 기존 전망대와 자연스럽게 어우러지며 풍경 속에 스며들 듯 자리한다. 동시에 걷는 행위가 곧 공간 경험이 되도록 설계되어, 산책로가 건물을 관통해 다시 이어지면서 방문자는 호수와 바다, 숲의 풍경을 감각적으로 체험하게 된다.

프로그램 구성 역시 자연 속에서 머물고 이동하는 경험을 반영한다. 관광 판매소와 갤러리는 건물의 중심부에 선형으로 배치되어 광장과 바다를 동시에 향해 열려 있다. 파고라와 같은 공간은 실내와 외부의 경계를 모호하게 하여 그 경험을 확장한다. 별도의 매스로 분리된 화장실은 내측 동선에 배치해 편의성을 높이는 동시에 전면을 차폐해 프라이버시를 보호했다. 자전거 대여소는 둘레길과 직접 연결되어 방문자가 보다 쉽게 자연 속으로 진입할 수 있도록 한다.

이러한 프로그램은 낮고 길게 뻗은 매스 속에서 구현된다. 땅에서 시작해 지붕으로 이어지는 벽, 긴 처마와 필로티는 개방과 차단을 조율하며 걷는 흐름을 이끈다. 금속 패널과 노출 콘크리트는 자연에서 이어진 수평적 선을 강조하며, 절제된 톤으로 주변 지형과 경관과 시각적 균형을 이루도록 했다. 중정과 폴딩 도어는 내부와 외부의 관계를 유연하게 연결해, 바람과 빛, 공기가 하루 종일 건물 안팎을 자유롭게 드나들도록 한다.

방문자는 이러한 공간을 거닐며 빛의 변화, 바람의 흐름, 숲의 향기와 바다의 소리를 경험한다. 이러한 켜켜한 경험은 자연에 대한 인식을 새롭게 일깨운다. 더 나아가 방문자센터는 기능적 역할을 넘어, 지역사회와 생태, 방문객이 만나는 작은 공공적 거점으로 작동한다. 결국 ‘송지호 Natransperience Platform’은 고립된 조형물이 아니라, 기존 전망대와 주변 경관과 맥락을 이루며 조응하는 존중의 건축이다. 동시에, 걷고 머무는 경험 속에서 이용자가 자연과 더 깊이 이어질 수 있도록 안내하는 전환적 건축으로 완성된다.

Songjiho Natransperience Platform | Evocation of the senses in nature

*Natransperience (Nature + Transformation + Experience) 

Songjiho is a rare site where forest, sea, and lake converge. The Visitor Center was conceived not as a simple facility for information but as a transitional platform—a threshold where visitors pause before entering nature, and a place that connects people and landscape. Rather than asserting itself, the building blends with the existing observatory and rests naturally within the landscape. At the same time, the design ensures that the act of walking becomes the spatial experience itself: the promenade enters, passes through, and reconnects with the circular trail, allowing visitors to perceive the lake, sea, and forest through a sequence of sensory encounters.

The program reflects this intention of experiencing within and moving through nature. A tourist shop and gallery are arranged linearly at the core, opening both to the plaza and the sea. These pergola-like spaces blur the line between indoors and outdoors. Restrooms are located in a separate volume along the internal circulation, ensuring easy access while keeping the frontage discreet for privacy. A bicycle rental facility connects directly to the trail, providing easy access for those who wish to explore the surrounding environment on two wheels.

These programs are organized into low, linear forms. Walls rise from the ground and extend into the roof. Together with long eaves and pilotis, they orchestrate openness and enclosure while guiding the pace of movement. Materials such as metal panels and exposed concrete were chosen to emphasize the continuity of horizontal lines drawn from the landscape. Their subdued tones reinforce visual balance with the surrounding topography and natural elements. Courtyards and folding doors are actively employed to mediate the relationship between inside and outside, allowing light, wind, and air to permeate the building throughout the day.

As visitors move through the spaces, they encounter shifting light, flowing air, the scent of the forest, and the sound of the sea. These impressions renew their perception of nature, turning every step into an act of discovery. Beyond its functional role, the Visitor Center seeks to become a civic landmark—a modest yet meaningful point where community, ecology, and visitors converge. Ultimately, the Songjiho Natransperience Platform is not an isolated object but an architecture that blends with the existing observatory and the surrounding scenery. More than a building, it becomes a gateway that guides people into a deeper dialogue with nature through the intertwined acts of walking, pausing, and experiencing.
